LIAISON : JORF EL HAMAM / MERZOUGA : 75 km
SPECIAL STAGE : MERZOUGA / OULED DRISS : 313 km

LIAISON : OULED DRISS / TAGOUNITE : 15 km

For the first time on the AFRICA ECO RACE®, the start is directly set at the bottom of the Merzouga dunes. A well known Erg to all participants in African rallies, which could however be problematic if the sand isn’t compact enough. Once this first difficulty is behind them, the competitors will find both sandy and stony tracks. A portion which has never been explored by the rally in the heart of beautiful landscapes. These tracks will take the competitors to the volcano located near Oued Driss. The vehicles will reach the finish after taking one last small section of dunes and will cross a more or less difficult ford depending on the season. A nice stage in the pure Moroccan tradition.

Dopo i ritardi logistici che hanno costretto gli organizzatori a cancellare la prima tappa, l’Africa Eco Race è cominciata anche per le moto.

Ad aggiudicarsi la frazione da Jorf El Hamam a Tagounite è stato il norvegese Pal Ander Ullevalseter, che in sella alla sua Ktm ha percorso in 4 ore, 21 minuti e 29 secondi i 313 chilometri delle speciale.

Secondo posto per Stefano Chiussi. L’italiano della Husqvarna ha chiuso la sua prova con un ritardo di 23 minuti e 57 secondi dal vincitore.

Chiussi ha preceduto di 30 secondi la Ktm del britannico Andrew Newland. Tra i primi dieci anche altri due italiani: Andrea Fesani (9°) e Marco Gandini (10°).

Tra le auto il successo di tappa è andato al francese Mathieu Serradori in 3 ore, 31 minuti e 14 secondi. Yuriy Sazonov si è dovuto accontentare del secondo posto con un ritardo di circa un minuto e mezzo. Il kazako, vincitore della prima tappa, resta comunque al comando della generale con quasi cinque minuti di vantaggio su Serradori.

Tra i camion successo di Anton Shibalov in 4 ore, 15 minuti e 15 secondi. Il russo vola al comando della generale e ha ora 13 minuti di vantaggio sul connazionale e compagno di team Sergey Kuprianov.
