Riders ready for Enduro Sprint Opener

The opening round of the 2016 ACU GBXC British Sprint Championship is approaching rapidly. The first of four scheduled two-day events throughout the season kicks off at Rogers Hill Raceway in Dorset on March 19-20th.

Once again, the series is backed by long-standing supporters Michelin and Rock Oil with Fast Eddy Racing organising everything down to the smallest detail.

Beta factory rider Steve Holcombe is already confirmed, as is Sherco’s latest factory rider, the ever-popular Tom Sagar and rising star Jack Edmondson, although the list is growing daily.

All riders will be transponder timed each day over two special tests, one Enduro and one MX. All rounds will feature this two-test scenario. Except for the Championship class, riders in all other classes can drop one of the days in the series to allow a little flexibility.

Emulating the British Enduro Championship the 2016 British Sprint Championship series has a breakdown of Championship, Expert and Clubman classes into E1, E2 and E3 divisions with a winner in each and an overall winner of the class. The series also sees classes for Sportsman, Youth 12-16, Veterans and Ladies.

There will be two groups of riders. Group One will consist of the Sportsman, Youth 12-16, Veterans and Ladies and will start each round on the MX test while group Two will hold the Championship, Expert and Clubman riders who will start each round on the Enduro test. All riders will be allowed one sighting lap, which will be followed by six timed laps each day.

The fastest rider after the first test will start first, no matter what class that rider is in, followed by the second fastest and so on. Each run will start in the same manner with fastest rider from the previous test going first.

The second round will be at H2O near Oswestry over the weekend of 30th April/1st May. Round three goes north to Westwood near Sheffield on May 21-22nd with the final round venue on 9-10th July to be announced shortly.

The start times are as follows: Saturday will start at 11.00am, giving riders time to travel to the venue on the morning of the event while Sunday will start at 9.30am and finish early afternoon, leaving plenty of time for the journey home.

Pre-paid entry costs for the weekend is £100 for two days or £60 for one day. There will be transponder timing at all events for all riders.

Entries are available by calling 01543 370070 or Kath on 07870 291143. Card payments are available and telephone entries accepted.
