FIM ISDE 2013 - Day 4: la conferma di Meo, il ritorno di Salvini

FIM World Trophy Antoine Meo è il punto di riferimento di questa Sei Giorni sarda, e anche oggi è stato l’unico a rimanere costantemente (o quasi) nella top 3 delle Speciali. Dietro di lui ci sono state delle sorprese e un ritorno: quello di Salvini, che dopo i problemi dei giorni scorsi si è definitivamente piazzato ai vertici, vincendo due speciali e chiudendo l’assoluta di giornata dietro al francese. L’australiano Milner, dal canto suo, ha avuto delle difficoltà ed è stato sostituito nelle posizioni che contano dal connazionale Joshua Strang.
La giornata è iniziata con Meo al comando nella Prova Speciale “Airoh” di Vena Fiorita, seguito da Milner e Renet. Un ordine stravolto nel secondo Special Test “FIAT Professional” di Loiri, quando Salvini si è imposto su Renet e Strang. L’italiano, finalmente in buona forma fisica, ha lasciato la leadership a Meo nella Speciale “Brema Menichetti” di Mazzinaiu per riprendersela nella quarta, la “Bardahl” – in località Padru –, mettendosi alle spalle gli australiani Hollis e Strang. La penultima Speciale “FIAT Professional” a Loiri ha visto il terzetto Meo-Salvini-Milner davanti a tutti, mentre la buona giornata di Strang si è concretizzata con la vittoria dell’ultima Prova “Airoh” a Vena Fiorita. A completare il podio di Speciale, Meo e Renet.
Alla fine del Day 4, la Francia ha incrementato il vantaggio da 8’43’’ sugli USA a 11’05’’ sull’Australia, che da terza è diventata seconda. Gli Stati Uniti chiudono il podio a 11’51’’, l’ Italia è quarta a 15’00.
A fine giornata, il francese Pierre Alexandre Renet ha commentato la sua prestazione fino ad oggi: “Giorno dopo giorno è andata sempre meglio e sono riuscito ad andare bene nelle varie Speciali nonostante il fondo secco. In squadra ci sono ottimi piloti e Meo va davvero forte. Spero si possa continuare su questa strada”. Protagonista della Sei Giorni è anche il team statunitense: “Tutta la squadra si sta divertendo – spiega Zachary Osborne - e in questi giornici stiamo esprimendo bene”. Chi vuol fare meglio è Mike Brown, che chiude così: “Domani dovremo andare ancora più forte”.
FIM Junior World Trophy Appurata la classe di Loic Larrieu, tra i giovani francesi oggi si è decisamente messo in mostra anche un altro “enfant terrible”: Mathias Bellino. I due sono riusciti a piazzarsi spesso nella top 10 e sono stati padroni della categoria. La lotta per il terzo posto di classe ha visto protagonisti il britannico Daniel McCanney (che ha completato il podio), l’australiano Thomas McCormack e lo statunitense Kailub Russel. Più in difficoltà l’Italia, che comunque resta saldamente seconda, ma passa da 1’53’’ di svantaggio a 3’13’’ dai transalpini. Terza della generale è la Gran Bretagna a 6’10’’.
Women’s World Trophy Grande giornata di Jessica Gardiner (unica a scendere sotto i 58’), seguita dalla sua compagna Jemma Wilson e dalle due svedesi Emelie Karlsson e Jessica Jonsson. Invariata la classifica, con l’Australia che comanda a +10’42’’ sulla Svezia e + 26’35’’ sulla Francia.

FIM World Trophy Meo is the continue to dominate this Six Days, today he was the only one to remain constantly (oralmost ) in the top 3 of each Special. The day began with Meo on top in the special stage “Airoh” of Vena Fiorita, followed by Milner and Renet . A ranking that changed in the second Special Test (“FIAT Professional”)of Loiri when Salvini got first upon Renet and Strang. The Italian, finally in a good physical shape, left the leadership to Meo in the special “Brema Menichetti” in Mazzinaiu to fetch in the fourth one (“Bardhal”) in Padru, behind australians Hollis and Strang. The penultimate special “ FIAT Professional” in Loiri saw Meo -Salvini and Milner on the podium , while Strang’s good day has been realized with the winning of the last test “Airoh” in Vena Fiorita . To complete the podium of the special , Meo and Renet . At the end of the day 4 , France increases it’s advantage from 8’ 43 “ on USA to 11’ 05” on Australia, which became second. United States is on the podium at the third place in 11’51”, Italy is fourth at 15’00.
At the end of the day, the french rider Pierre Alexandre Renet commented on his performance: "Day after day we ger better and better. In the team there are very good riders and Meo is really strong. I hope we can continue this way". Another protagonist of the Six Days is the U.S. team: "The whole team is doing well”, says Zachary Osborne. Who wants to do better is Mike Brown: "Tomorrow we go even stronger".
